We are honoured to be working in partnership with a number of a SEN (Special Education Needs) schools in the Bury St Edmunds & Sudbury area who are currently looking for SEN Learning Support Assistants to join their team immediately on both a supply or full time basis.
We are looking for candidates with excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills, with the competency to manage very challenging and extreme behaviour, including the ability to work 1:1 and with small groups. You must have recent child based experience and be confident working with SEN students. As well as this, it is important you are comfortable working in an environment catering for pupils with complex and severe learning disability.
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant you will work with a range of ages across all Key Stages and your duties will depend on the age of the children and their individual needs, but may include:
- gaining the trust of the young people in your class & building rapport
- adapting support according to needs of the young person
- looking after children’s physical, social and emotional welfare
- creating a stimulating and engaging environment
