Pertemps Education are seeking a Supply Teacher in the Chelmsford area for Daily Supply Work with a partnered Secondary School in the absence of staff. This will be on an ad-hoc basis during the course of the Academic Year. We are looking to speak with Qualified Teachers (NQT, QTS, QTLS).

What To Expect As A Supply Teacher:

At the start of a typical day as a Supply Teacher you will be expected to arrive early to meet the Cover Manager. Here they will check your ID and DBS, as well as induct you briefly through H&S and Behaviour Policies. Most schools will have a Supply Pack to give you, so please feel free to ask for this! They will give you your plan and timetable for the day as well as take you to the department of your first lesson and introduce you.

As a Supply Teacher you may not be able to teach in your specialist subject and potentially the subjects you are covering will change throughout the day. As a Cover Teacher it is important to try and familiarise yourself with the seating plan and cover work for the day as well as the behaviour policies in order to be consistent with school sanctions.

A successful candidate must have the following qualities:

  • Good understanding and working knowledge of the secondary school typical day
  • Have good behaviour management from experience of coaching, teaching & tutoring
  • Be able to deliver effect cover plans to ensure that every students is engaged
  • Be conscious of school policies and behaviour policies
  • Flexible attitudes- happy to be called at 7am!
